THE PATRIOT 2021-22
Sales have begun for our 2022 yearbook, The Patriot!  Like last year, the yearbook will be sold online only.  Flyers are being sent home this week with instructions on how to make a purchase through our online store at www.balfour.com.  Yearbooks will be available for purchase through the end of January 2022 and delivered at the end of the school year.  If you have any questions, please contact Carrie Fischetti at cfischetti@acdspatriots.net.

CALENDAR CHANGE: BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Considering the high rate of transmission of COVID-19 in our area, we will not be having a traditional Back to School Night on September 15. Instead, your child's teacher will be sharing with you her/his "plan B" in the coming days! Your child's teacher may prepare a special video presentation, facilitate a Zoom class meeting or outdoor gathering, or offer opportunities for individual families to visit the classroom. We have so much information to share, but want to do so in the safest way possible for our Aylett families. We appreciate your understanding and support.

SEE YOU AT THE POLE
ALL are invited to See You at the Pole (SYATP) event on Wednesday, September 22, from 7:55 – 8:10.  For over 25 years, SYATP has been about one simple act – prayer.  All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at their flag poles, praying for their school, friends, churches, and communities.  This student-led event will start promptly at 7:55.

CALENDAR CHANGE: PICTURE DAY

AYLETT’S COVID QUARANTINE PROCEDURE
If an Aylett student is exposed to someone testing positive for COVID, his/her family is expected to notify the school office or school nurse immediately. If the student is at school, he/she will need to be picked up within one hour. Since it can take up to 14 days after an exposure for a person to develop COVID-19, we follow the VDH and CDC's guidance that people stay home (quarantine) for 14 days after their last contact. This is the safest way to protect our staff and student body. However, if the exposed student is fully vaccinated and has no symptoms, he/she would be allowed to remain in school. We understand this can be frustrating, but we appreciate your understanding as we are committed to keeping our school open and students and staff healthy.

50/50 LEAGUE RAFFLE TICKETS
Raffle tickets were sent home with each family.  This is the first League fundraiser of the year.  You are highly encouraged to sell a minimum of 10 tickets.  The is a fun and easy way to raise money for our school.  If you sell your 10 tickets, your child/ren will receive a FREE dress-down day coupon.  For preschool students, they will get a special treat.  As you sell your tickets, please return the tickets stubs and money to Ayron.  If you need more, please let us know.  The drawing will be held Friday, October 1.  Last year’s payout was $9,736.00!

FRIDAYS AT ACDS
Students may wear an ACDS spirit wear shirt with standard dress bottoms on Fridays.  ACDS spirit wear includes any t-shirt or sweatshirt sold during the year.

The last calendar day of each month is a school-wide dress down day.  Students may wear any clothing they desire as long as it is appropriate for school.

The Class of 2022 (8th grade) is selling ice cream on Fridays to students in K – 8 starting today.  Order forms went home and you may purchase for the year ($30.00) or on each Friday ($1.00).  The proceeds of this fundraiser will help pay for their trip to Camp Horizons and their class gift.
