GRANDPARENTS’ DAY – WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23

We are so excited to host our traditional Grandparents Day program on Wednesday, November 23 at 10:00 in the gymnasium! This special program is for grandparents, grand-friends, and family. Please join us! Grandparents Day is a wonderful kick-off to the holidays. We ask that all students dress up that day as each student will be on-stage for a brief time. Students may wear dresses, blazers, sweaters, ties, etc. The gym will open at 9:30 for guests to be seated. School dismisses at noon.  Lunch will not be served and the afternoon buses will NOT run.

Nurse News

We continue to see high numbers of confirmed flu cases. As of today, we are aware of 36 current cases at ACDS. We ask that you please keep your child home if he/she shows any of the following symptoms and please notify school and/or Nurse Seal.

  1. Temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher within the last 24 hours (must be fever free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications before returning to school.
  2. Diarrhea and/or vomiting within the last 24 hours.
  3. Headache and/or Severe cough/congestion (especially with greenish/yellow nasal discharge).
  4. Sore throat and/or difficulty swallowing (if diagnosed with strep throat, must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school).

13th ANNUAL RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER ROCKFISH OPEN – SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19

Congratulations to Frederick Crittenden and crew for winning this year’s tournament with a rockfish that weighed 8.67 pounds and was 29.25 inches long.  The second place captain was William Wandersee (8.53 / 28.38“) and coming in third was Ken English (7.07 / 26.25”).  The junior angler winner was Carter Shelton with a fish that weighed 6.66 pounds and was 26.5” long.  We had 36 boats registered and it was a great day for fishing.  A big thank you to our sponsors and committee members Rick Garrett, Richard Moncure, Herbie and Emily Osburn, and Corey and Ann Kramer Stinchcomb for their help organizing this event!

BASKETBALL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Scoreboard and scorekeepers are needed for the basketball season!  This is something you can easily learn and we are happy to teach.  Please contact Coach O’Bier at pobier@acdspatriots.net if you are willing and able.

THE PATRIOT 2022-23

Sales have begun for our 2022-23 yearbook, The Patriot!  The yearbook will be sold online only.  Please see the attached flyer for ordering instructions through the online store at www.balfour.com.  Yearbooks will be available for purchase through the end of January 2023 and delivered at the end of the school year.  If you have any questions, please contact Carrie Magyar at cmagyar@acdspatriots.net.
