URBANNA OYSTER FESTIVAL

THANK YOU, again, to each parent, grandparent, friend, and staff member who volunteered his/her time at the festival.

We are so happy to report that we raised an estimated $47,207.40!!  This a record year for our booth in Urbanna.  We are already planning for next year! Our League goal is $60,000.00, so we are well on our way of reaching that number.

12TH ANNUAL RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER ROCKFISH OPEN

Congratulations to William Walker and crew for winning this year’s tournament with a rockfish that weighed 7.9 pounds and was 29 inches long. The second place captain was Ken English (7.4 / 27.13”) and coming in third was Andrew Cox (5.8 / 25.88”).  We also added a junior angler division and the winner was Carter Shelton with a fish that weighed 5.18 pounds and was 26 inches long.  A big thank you to our sponsors and committee members Rick Garrett, Richard Moncure, Herbie and Emily Osburn, and Ayron Pitts for their help organizing this event!

NEWS FROM THE NURSE

As of today, 8 students are being quarantined. We have 10 additional students out that are not feeling well.

If your child is not feeling well, please keep him/her home and inform the office. Thank you.

Nurse Ashley Seal will be returning to ACDS on November 17, following her maternity leave!  We are thankful for Nurse Sheryl Elliot serving as interim nurse in her absence.  Nurse Elliott will be staying on-staff at ACDS as a pre-school aide.

STANDARD DRESS POLICY: CHANGE AND CLARIFICATION

The standard dress policy at Aylett reflects the philosophy that learning at ACDS requires respectful behavior and attire. School is a student's workplace and students should come to school ready to work, neatly dressed. The standard dress policy includes various choices as listed on pages 33-36 in the Student Handbook. Faculty and staff have discussed and agreed on a change to the dress code: Boys and girls may wear standard dress shorts throughout the year when the weather is mild. In other words, if students want to wear shorts on warm fall/winter days, the choice may be made by families. Please be mindful that skirts and shorts should be “mid-thigh” or longer and students and parents are to use their best judgment. Leggings or tights worn under skirts are highly encouraged when the weather is cold, as all students (PreK-8th) have outdoor recess daily.

CALENDAR CHANGE

ACDS will be closed November 22 – 26 for Thanksgiving break.  School will reopen on Monday, November 29.  If your family had already made travels plans based on the original calendar, we will welcome those students back on November 30.

ACDS SEEKS HELP FOR A FAMILY IN NEED
